2 ways to address this that I’ve seen.<\/p>\n

The first requires you open a command line with Administrator Priveleges and type in the following:<\/p>\n

  1. \n
    net stop wuauserv<\/strong><\/div>\n<\/li>\n
  2. \n
    rename c:\\windows\\SoftwareDistribution softwaredistribution.old<\/strong><\/div>\n<\/li>\n
  3. \n
    net start wuauserv<\/strong><\/div>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    The second is the open Services.msc and stop the Windows Update service (same as using the commands above, use this if that doesn’t work).<\/p>\n

    At a Run lines, type in services.msc<\/strong><\/p>\n

    1. Stop Windows Update<\/strong> service <\/li>\n
    2. Browse to c:\\windows\\SoftwareDistribution <\/strong>and rename the folder to softwaredistribution.old<\/strong><\/li>\n
